And why does he like me so much?

I would venture to say that after you live with someone for so long you start to get tired of being around them. That certainly seems to be true of my eight (or seven... or nine... I can never remember) year old brother. I have been in the same house if him his entire life, and he drives me insane. Everything he does puts be on edge. His mere presence in my room makes me mad. He has a terrible attitude problem (at least with me) and is overall just annoying. Some examples of why he drives me insane:

-He is only borderline potty trained (even though he is in 2nd grade), which means he makes the house smell like... well... crap
-He takes enormous servings of my favorite foods during dinner, and then only eats half what's on his plate leaving me with none
-He takes entire bags of Doritos (family size) and eats them all at once before I even know we have them
-He constantly whines about wanting to use my computer (despite the fact there is another one downstairs that is almost as good).
-When he does get on the computer he always wants me to help him
-He wastes enormous amounts of ink on totally pointless things
-He is the poorest looser and poorest winner I have ever met

But I don't just have one brother, I have two. My other brother is 11 or 12, and he is very lovable. He is fun to play with, I enjoy conversation with him, don't mind him using my computer and is just a great kid. I constantly call him my "favorite brother," and the like. And I've been with him for even longer then I have with my other brother. So why is one so annoying and the other is so good?

What makes me even more insane is the fact that the younger brother appears to like me. My mom says that he "looks up to me" and such. Frankly I don't believe her, because when I say "I need to do work on my computer" he just bags the keyboard and mouse really hard and growls at me. But there are other hints that he likes me. Sometimes I overhear him talking to his friends about me... and he is being far too positive.

So living with someone for a long time doesn't necessarily make you hate them (like my older brother), but why does it do so for some people. Both my brothers were brought up basically the same way, and they have the same parents. Yet, somehow one manages to always get under my skin, and the other is really cool.

Wow you seem to be in the same situation that I am with my sisters, one is great and one is sooo annoying. We just clash on everything, I think the difference is though I live with the annoying one, where as the other has her own place. I'm sure she'd be less annoying if I saw her once a week (month?) maybe, hehe! It's nice he thinks so much of you though, is kind of cute!

Yeah, If I wasn't me, I'd think so too... but unfortunately I have to deal with both ends. Oh well... such is life .

I think that statement partly answers your question. He is annoying because he wants your attention, he wants you " who he looks up to " to notice him and be happy in his company.

I have a little sister who is 4 and she is always bugging me to do things with her...I think she does look up to me so mostly i just let her get away with it...I figure she goes to bed at 730 so i just do what i need to do then..you gota make comprimises with your two brothers..why dont you take them to the park or something to keep them both entertained and out of your parents hair..and maybe your parents will let you off for a night....wouldnt that be great.

But I wish he would understand that he can get my attention by being loving and nice, not by whining and pounding the keyboard.

Heh. I was an annoying little brother. I'm the youngest sibling.
